Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy
I actually liked this poem alot. The title of it, described the girl in the poem alot, from childhood to death. When she was born, she was probably a beautiful baby and got introduced to barbie dolls, something that she didnt know she'd try and look like in the future. She definitely got made fun of after puberty and got poked fun at for her nose and her legs. She was a completely normal person until she took action and destroyed herself by having surgery on her legs and nose. I really liked this poem because it shows that this girl had to try so hard to fit in, it shows that some girls are very self-conscious of their bodys and will do anything to look like a beautiful person, hence why the title is "Barbie Doll." Any girl would kill to look like one of those plastic dolls.
